That is one question that I have never had answered to my liking.
Oh I have had the supposedly official answers as well as the ones that come from blind less faith and robotism, but I have not had one that makes sense. .
If I am to believe in god, any that I have been exposed to (and I have seen several versions) then surely he must be a extremely cruel and sadistic?
For him allow the pain and sorrow that we, "his children" have to suffer does not exhibit love, compassion, forgi more...

Yep! God IS a myth! Look up God in a dictionary,and it will tell you that God is beter known as..."Mother Nature!",it does in mine! Even God had a Mother! More people belive in Father Christmas, than God. Mmmmmmm. Chinese Whispers comes to mind.
The same could be said about why God takes little children from Cancer.
I good friend of mine...his little boy who was 7 died from cancer a few months ago. I don't know if he questioned why God did this more than that he believed there was a reason. No One will ever really know the reasons to the questions of "why".
Just be a good friend to her and be there when she needs a shoulder to cry on.
I know that you don't know what to say, and that is ok. As an oncology nurse I see these situations frequently. Nothing is going to be the right thing to say for your friend. She is hurting. The most important thing is to be there for her and listen. When she is cursing God, herself, and everyone else, just listen. Let her know that you are there for her.
